The APT-RWM Iron Man Poker Challenge starts Friday evening at the Level 2 Premier Club of Resorts World Manila with a tall task facing both the players and organizers; breaking the Guinness World Records “Longest Continuous Poker Tournament”.
The current record is at 36 hours, 34 minutes and 41 seconds set in Delaware Park’s Ironman Poker Challenge. For the difficult feat to be broken players will have to grind it out until morning of Sunday and an Iron Man champion declared after 8:34:41 a.m.
Peter Konas from the Czech Republic was the champion in that Iron Man event held in Delaware, U.S.A.
“We’ve made everything possible (for the players) to break the record, good structure and blinds. So really, it’s up to the players if they want it. It’s up to them if they want to get the honor and prestige of being in the Guinness World Records,” dared tournament director Lloyd Fontillas.
“It’s the first of its kind in Asia, so the players will be motivated to part of poker history,” he added.
Two more side events are on tap the rest of the weekend with the High Rollers Event scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Saturday and the No Limit Hold’em event at 1:00 p.m. Sunday. For full details, visit this page.
