Zhang Dang Peng

Zhang Dan Peng made history when he became the very first Chinese player to win an Asian Poker Tour (APT) Main Event in 2010. He was just 18 years old when he was crowned the APT Macau 2010 Main Event champion while cashing for a monstrous USD $216,474 in prize money. Even more impressive is that Peng was playing in his first live tournament and outlasted a field of 161 players including poker greats such as Johnny Chan, Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey.

After his win, Peng commented, “I’m incredibly happy and really, really lucky to have won in my first tournament, especially as so many great players were here… I joined APT Macau to accompany my friend who lost, but I managed to progress. I honestly had no expectations before the final table and would have been happy with any result.”

The Asian Poker Tour will be pleased to welcome Peng back to the felt next week on Asia’s best-known gaming island for APT Macau 2012 at StarWorld Hotel and Casino. For the full APT Macau 2012 schedule, visit www.TheAsianPokerTour.com.
