As an experienced player of online games such as Warcraft, it was a natural progression for Steve Yea to start his poker career in a virtual space as well. In 2006, he began with entering online freerolls and once he had built up his bankroll he went on to try and master the game in a live setting.
It didn’t take long for his efforts to pay off handsomely when, in 2008, he came runner-up in the APT Macau Main Event for USD $250,000. Yea went on to repeat this result the following year in Manila when he came second in the 2009 APT Philippines Main Event for USD $100,000 in prize money.
The Korean has cashed a number of times since then, mostly in US tournaments, but is yet to have another score of similar magnitudes. However, his impressive results to date see him sitting in second spot on the South Korea All Time Money list.
APT is looking forward to see Steve Yea at the tables on its next stop at StarWorld Hotel and Casino on July 25-31 for APT Macau. For the full APT Macau 2012 schedule, visitwww.TheAsianPokerTour.com.
