The felts at the Resorts World Manila are set to sizzle once more with the APT Asian Series Manila 2012 kicking off on Wednesday.
Roll Call
Coming back to defend his title is last year’s champion – local poker pro Vic De Guzman. He was the last man standing from last year’s Main Event field of 396 entries, the largest ever for an APT Asian Series Main Event.
Also making their way to the tables will be the Top 6 players from APT Player of the Year 2012 race namely: Samad Razavi, Liam Anderson, Martin Nilsson, Marc Rivera, Carlos Chang and Divan Le Roux. The title of APT Player of the Year is still up for grabs with 3 more events this year.
The race is so close at the moment that, we even saw the top spot change twice during the recently concluded APT Asian Series Mauritius. First, Liam Anderson took pole position midway through the event. Then Sam Razavi pulled off back–to-back cash finishes which included a first place finish in the last Freezeout tournament of the event to move to 1st place.
More to give
This year, the Charity Event benefactor will be the RCMN’s Feed the Child, Build a Nation Feeding Program. In addition to donating all the Add Ons from the tournament. Together with the APT, event sponsors DafaPoker, PokerAce and MegaSportsWorld have also made pledges to add value to the tournament.
The APT and PokerAce will each add 1 tournament ticket worth PHP 5,500 to the prize pool of the tournament while MegaSportsWorld will award a seat to their sponsored Deep Stack Turbo event. DafaPoker will add PHP 15,000 donation to the program.
The Add On for Charity event is scheduled at 7PM on opening day – September 19th.
What’s New
The main goal of the APT has always been to provide a world-class poker experience at every event. For this reason, the APT will introduce a few changes to its tournaments. First, the payout tables for all tournaments have been adjusted to create a “flatter” distribution compared to before.
Second, the 150/300 blind level has been inserted into the tournaments structures.
While the Main Event’s Final Table will now be known as the Final Eight. The last day of the Main Event will now see only 8 players come back with a guaranteed blind level of 30 times the big blind of the average stack.
The APT Asian Series Manila 2012 will be held from September 19th to the 25th at Level 2 Gaming Area of Resorts World Manila. Check out the complete Event Details
