November 11, 2011 – Two more events at APT Asian Series Goa have crowned two more victors in the race for glory in India’s first international poker series at Casino Royale.
Event #3 INR 10,000 No Limit Hold’em
In yesterday’s Event 3 of the schedule, Aditya “Mastermind” Agarwal’s took home his APT Asian Series trophy after besting a field of 78 runners. Agarwal pocketed INR 238,700 in the process and was able to get the perfect boost in confidence leading up to the APT Asians Series Goa Main Event.
Despite heading into the final table with the chip lead, Agarwal wasn’t having much luck in busting out his opponents. That job was left to the eventual runner-up, Kristian Faering who couldn’t seem to put a foot wrong in his all-in situations, coming from behind on a number of occasions to rail his opponents.
But, when it came to the heads up confrontation, the luck turned Agarwal’s way after his Q♠ 6♠ got the better of Faering’s A♦ 7♠ on a board of 5♥ 6♣ 8♥ 5♣ Q♦. The result was Agarwal gaining a big chip advantage over his opponent who was left to just moving all in preflop with any two cards. In the final hand, Faering shoved with K♥ 4♣ and Agarwal called with A♠ 10♣. Both an ace and a ten arrived on the board to give Agarwal aces up and seal his claim on the title.
High Rollers
In the INR 250,000 High Roller event, Phil Sanders remarkably gained his second title of the series after previously taking out APT Asian Series Goa’s Event #1 on Monday night. In a table filled with big names, Sanders outlasted them all to take home INR 1,235,000 in prize money.
The runner-up in the event was the similarly-named to Event #3 winner, Aditya Agarwal, who pocketed INR 665,000. US poker pro Nam Thien Le bubbled the event.
Day 1A begins of the INR 50,000 APT Asian Series Goa Main Event begins today at 4pm. For more information on APT Asian Series Goa, head to www.TheAsianPokerTour.com.
