The poker area at Resorts World Manila was almost at capacity today with a field of 198 players cramming themselves onto the tables for Day 1A of the PHP 50,000 APT Asian Series Main Event.
With a 15,000 starting stack and 45 minute blinds, players had plenty of room to make some early moves. Added to this was the fact that re-entries for the tournament are allowed to come in on Day 1B should players get knocked out and want another bite of the cherry tomorrow.
This is only the second time the APT Asian Series tournament has ever been held, after the inaugural event in Cebu earlier this year, but in just the first day the Manila event has smashed the player turnout of its predecessor.
With a ton of action already taken place since the early stages of the tournament, you can see all the highlights in Poker Portal Asia’s Live Reporting.
After Day 1A was wrapped up, out of the huge field of 198 players that turned up for the PHP 50,000 APT Main Event, just 73 players survived cut with Guam player William Perez leading the way with 129,500 in chips. Following close behind are Prem Chandiramani with 111,300, Jeong Won Seo with 100,300 and Sang Park with 92,000.
