PASAY CITY, Philippines – Former Asian Poker Tour (APT) Player of the Series (POS) Mike Takayama of the Philippines upended a pair of Kazakhs to triumph anew in these proceedings by taking down (Event #16) the Professional Offline Poker League (POPL) PhP65,000 (US$1,136) Single-Day High-Rollers and catapult him back to the top of the POS race in the APT 2022 Philippines at the Grand Wing Casino, Newport World Resorts here.
Takayama, who was the first in this staging to hit the seven digit mark in terms of payouts, added PhP671,300 (US$11,735) to his total haul after disposing of the pair of Ilya Mukhamedzhanov and Daniyar Aubakirov (who is still in the Main Event). The field had 27 entries.
Mukhamedzhanov, who cashed numerous times in the WSOP online circuit, received PhP389,100 (US$6,802) as the runner-up while Aubakirov got PhP240,900 (US$4,211) for his third place finish.
The win carrying 201.88 ranking points allowed Takayama to reclaim his spot on top of the POS standings with 854.2, overtaking Japan’s Katsuhiro Kawai, who still has 694,23.
In (Event #18) the second Deep Stack Turbo (DST), The host nation scored once again as Patrick Raqueno emerged victorious versus Kai Tse Lee of Hong Kong in the Heads-Up duel for his ever live cash and trophy. He bested 46 entries.
Raqueno also pocketed the top prize of PhP126,100 (US$2,204) while Lee got PhP84,000 (US$1,468) for finishing in second. The Philippines’ Edwin de Guzman ended up in third for PhP58,400 (US$1,021).
The final crown handed out was in (Event #19) the High-Rollers 6-Max Hyper Turbo where three Japanese players contested the championship.
In the end, it went to Sakurai Buyu, who picked up his fifth APT cash and his very first victory.
Buyu also collected the PhP331,700 (US$5,798) while second place went to Tomonari Nomura for PhP163,000 (US$2,849). Yuki Sako settled for third and PhP87,300 (US$1,526).
(Event #17) the 2-day No Limit Hold’Em (NLH) played down to its Final 8 and will crown a champion later (November 21) along with three more side events that will accompany Day 3 of the Main Event starting 1:00PM (UCT+8).
