PASAY CITY, Philippines – Frequent Manila visitor Kevin Bortfeld of the United States came away with the overall chip-lead at the conclusion of action in Day 1B of the ongoing Main Event in the Asian Poker Tour (APT) 2022 Philippines while local bet Noel Llamedo triumphed in (Event #10) the popular Super Deep Stack Turbo (S-DST) to lead the side event winners at the Grand Wing Casino, Newport World Resorts here.
Bortfeld, who is looking for his first APT cash, is a regular campaigner at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), cashing six times in Las Vegas since 2013.
The Pearl City, Hawaii native has 207,800 in chips while second place is currently occupied by Professional Offline Poker League (POPL) Head-Hunter titlist Dzmitry Budai of Belarus with 179,900. Sitting at third is local pro Christopher Mateo with 146,400.
Day 1B brought in 128 entries and of those, 53 made it through to Day 2.
The final qualifying day commences tomorrow as Day 1C takes flight at 1:00PM (UCT+8).
Meanwhile, Llamedo’s victory in the S-DST gave the host nation its fourth trophy in these proceedings following (Event#1) the Mystery Bounty conquest of Whoody Jeremias, Hazel Timonera‘s win in (Event #6) “The Women of Poker” (Ladies event) and Mike Takayama garnering the title in (Event #8) the PhP65,000 (US$1,131) Single-Day High-Rollers.
Llamedo earned his third APT cash and his first crown along with the top prize of PhP298,100 (US$5,198)–his biggest career live cash.
Second place went to Korea’s Lim Seong Joon for PhP198,900 while Daisuke Kurakami of Japan finished third for PhP138,300 (US$2,416).
In (Event #11) the second PhP65,000 (US$1,131) Single-Day High-Rollers, Sun Ho Yoo of Korea upended the United Kingdom’s Stephen Nathan to snare the title and the PhP378,400 (US$6,609) top prize (the result of an ICM chop agreed upon at the beginning of Heads-Up).
Nathan received PhP320,000 (US$5,589) for his runner-up finish.
The last tiff of the night was in (Event #12) the Hyper Deep Stack Turbo (H-DST) that had Japan’s Katsuhito Kawai attain his second conquest of this variant after emerging victorious just two nights ago.
This time, Kawai defeated the Philippines’ Jose Colada and get PhP151,400 (US$2,646) to add to the PhP117,900 (US$2,061) he collected in his first triumph for a total of PhP269,300 (US$4,707).
Colada settled for the PhP100,900 (US$1,764) second place payout while Singapore’s Chua Yong Kwee finished in third for PhP70,200 (US$1,227).
Three side events will be running alongside the Main Event’s Day 1C in (Event #13) the Single-Day No Limit Hold’Em (NLH) at 2:00PM, (Event #14) the much-anticipated Deep Stack Turbo (DST) at 3:00PM as well as (Event #15) yet another H-DST at 10:00PM.
