INCHEON CITY, Korea – In every tournament, there is that one player that needs to be eliminated so that all who remain can get paid and that was the case for Edward Yam of Hong Kong as he fell short of the money, ensuring all those who now remain in the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Korea Incheon 2022 Main Event get a share of the immense KRW942,840,000 (US$659,740) and a shot at the title as well as the KRW198,228,000 (US$138,760) top prize at the Paradise City Hotel and Casino here.
Yam was the Player of the Series (POS) in the 2019 APT Korea Seoul staging and has cashed a whopping 30 times in the APT. His career earnings have exceeded the US$500K mark but has not had a live cash since January of 2020. This is another event that has eluded him.
The final moment arrived when Yam was put all-in by his opponent who was caught stealing with J♥ 7♥ as the Hong Kong national tabled 3♦ 3♠.
The Flop was ominous: A♥ 9♥ 6♠. While the Turn bricked with a 8♣, the River produced the knockout blow as the K♥ arrived and sending the whole venue into a frenzy. Yam was the Bubble Boy on a Rivered Flush.
The last 49 still in the hunt for the title are now guaranteed KRW4M (US$2,800) and will be playing down to the Final 8 players. The finale happens tomorrow (25th October) at 1:30PM (UCT+9).
The three Side Events are also in full swing and will be updated in the next entry.
