INCHEON CITY, Korea – A staggering 220 entries practically broke down the doors in Day 1C of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Korea Incheon 2022 Main Event to bring the guaranteed prize pool to an astounding KRW746,900,000 (US$522,634) more than doubling the original guarantee of KRW300M (US$209,921) and with registration still open for the first two levels of Day 2, the new record is expected to grow at the Paradise City Hotel and Casino here.
The 385 total entries shatters the old mark of 236 set in 2019 also here in Incheon and with players still having the option of joining until the end of the break after Level 10 later (23rd October), coming close to the vicinity of 500 entries is suddenly not such a farfetched notion.
Day 2 commences at 1:00PM (UCT+9).
“We packed the place and had alternates (outside) the door,” APT General Manager and Executive Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas exclaimed in his reaction to the turnout. And the Sunday crowd could surprise even more.
For the third straight day, a Japanese competitor once again claimed the overall chip-lead with WSOP Online veteran Keisuke Kodama coming away with 180,300 in chips, in search of his first ever APT title.
Fellow Japanese and Day 1B’s top performer Shun Tsukuda is currently in second place with 128,700 while Chzhen Evgenii of Russia is not that far behind with 120,400 in third.
Day 1C had a total of 111 runners make it through to Day 2 and now has 196 aspirants that will play six more levels and resume on Day 3 which happens tomorrow (Monday, 24th October).
From there it will a battle of who makes ITM and eventually the Final 8 which will have its final showdown on Tuesday (25th October).
