The APT Asian Poker Series Manila 2015 opened on Tuesday and two familiar faces– Iori Yogo of Japan and Sam Razavi of the United Kingdom— will lead a pack of 65 players who will return to Day 2 of the APT-RWM 2M Guaranteed event at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Philippines.
The opening event drew 281 entries to go past the two million-peso guarantee and create a total prize pool of PHP 2,725,000. The champion of this event, which had a buy-in of PHP 11,000, will take home PHP 673,200.
Yogo topped Flight A, which had 126 players, with nearly 200,000 in chips while Razavi ruled Flight B, which had 155 runners, for a haul of 185,000 Curiously, both Yogo and Razavi are the top two players in the APT Player of the Year 2015 rankings.
Eight other players also had a great day on the felt to complete a Top 10 in chip counts with over 100,000; Jo Hyungake (Korea) with 164,100; Ivan Lato (Philippines) with 139,300; Charles Esteban (Philippines) with 139,000; Kunal Panti (India) with 134,400; Geoffroy De Boissieu (France) with 132,900; Terence Wong (Singapore) with 120,600; Marcuss Liow (Malaysia) with 119,900; and John Riad (Denmark) with 114,300.
Other notable pros who advanced to Day 2 were; Joseph Sia (Philippines) with 96,700; Lester Edoc (Philippines) with 70,600; Martin Gonzales (Philippines) with 70,000; Ian Brion (Philippines) with 65,000; SJ Kim (Korea) with 51,200; Kai Paulsen (Norway) with 84,700; and Tetsuya Tsuchikawa (Japan) with 22,300, among others.
Day 2 of the APT-RWM event restarts at 1:00 PM to open what would be the busiest day in the nine-day poker festivities.
The NLH Multi Re-Buy + 1 Add-On event (PHP 3,300 buy-in) is scheduled at 1:00 PM; the High Rollers event (PHP 108,000 buy-in) at 2:00 PM; and Ante Up for Charity event (PHP 7,500 buy-in) at 7:00 PM.
