Welcome to another perfect day for flipping cards and shuffling chips at the Asian Poker Tour Manila 2016. Today will see three exciting side events rock the floor of the APT Poker Room in the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino in Manila, Philippines. Also returning to the felt are the 30 survivors from yesterday’s Welcome Event back for their final battle to the first bragging rights trophy. Here’s a rundown of what’s in store:
New Event: NLH 50K Challenge
The first event today is a new addition to the APT side event lineup, the NLH 50K Challenge. With a buy-in of P55,000, this event has a structure similar to the High Rollers event however the ante stage begins much earlier. Things to know:
- Starting stack is 40,000 in chips
- Blind duration is 40 minutes
- Cards in the air at 2pm
- Late registration is available until the end of round 9
Battle of the Nations
The Battle of the Nations event has slowly become one of the most enjoyable events on the roster with two players from the same country joining forces to field a team. Individual players from differing nations may also team up and join the event however they will have to agree on which country to represent. Each nation can field as many teams as desired. Buy-in is P17,600 per tandem, and 20% of the total prize pool will be segregated for the Last Team Standing cash prize. Cards start flying at 3pm.
Ante Up for Charity for the Cancer Warriors Foundation
The Ante Up for Charity event is the last side event offered today. It begins at 7pm with an entry fee of P7,500. This event aims to raise funds for the benefit of the Cancer Warriors Foundation whose mission is “to fight for kids {children/adolescents) with cancer, the survivors and their families. For the past 15 years, Cancer Warriors Foundation has been helping increase awareness about childhood cancer, providing direct medical and treatment assistance to kids with cancer and advocating for changes in the medical and health sector.” With every entry fee, one third will be donated to the foundation.
