The Asian Poker Tour Cebu 2016 concluded day 1a of the Main Event this evening with 30 players out of 64 total entries surviving the day. Landing himself at the top of the chip rung was Korea’s Kwon Ohjung with 135,200 chips. Ohjung was the only player who crossed the six-digit chip mark. During the final hands of the night, he railed two players simultaneously, one of whom was Singapore’s Feng Zhao.
Day 1a kicked off to a great start with 32 players availing of the Main Event Bubble Protection. Notables such as SJ Kim, Lee Jong Yeol, Lim Yo Hwan, Julien Tran, and Kosei Ichinose were among those who were at the tables early to avail of the bubble protection. Other notables who got there later were Jun Saito, Kenji Kurashina, two-time APT Main Event champion Henrik Tollefsen, Singaporean pro Bryan Huang, and Michael Kim Falcon fresh off the Head Hunter event.
Joining the leader Ohjung at bagging was UK’s Alex Ward who came in second-in-chips with 82,900 chips, and USA’s Nick Blackburn with 75,125 chips to round off the top three.
Along with the survivors we also had quite a number of players who hit the rail. Among those were Dhanesh Chainani, William Kang, JC Sayo, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, and Kenji Kurashina. Luckily there is still one more qualifying flight tomorrow.
Last Chance Main Event Mega Satellite
There were a couple of side events that finished up today but we’ll have those results posted online for you tomorrow. We also had the Last Chance Main Event Mega Satellite in the early evening for those still looking for a seat at a low price. The 8th place finisher received the P30,000 remaining balance.
